Term 3 Week 2
The teddy bears picnic was a success with every child finding a new friend for at least that day. For some it was a scary thought to have to met a new person and converse with them to find out what their name was and what they like doing. The teddy's certainly added a bit of excitement to the day.
For inquiry, we will continue investigating stories of moving houses and countries and the reasons why. We would love to hear of any real life experiences of whānau moving recently or historically. We all came to New Zealand some how at some time for some reason.
Cross Country practice will be after lunch Monday to Thursday, on the bike track, with the other year one classes. The children will not need a change of clothes for this. You will have received a letter in your child's book bag last week. Getting sponsors is purely voluntary. However, it is a great way to raise money for our school and there are prizes to be one.
In Maths we are focusing on before and after numbers between 1 and 20, using different language to say the same thing, and patterns to five.
Our poem this week focus's on being courageous and brave.
Please remember to review your child's book bag each evening with them. Monday to Tuesday they bring home a reader to share with you. On Friday they bring home the poem we have been exploring that week. The Anton book shows which letters they are learning a the moment. I also send important notices home in their book bags. Talking to them about what they are doing at school and giving them positive reinforcement for their hard work, shows them you care and creates a link between home and school.
You will have received a survey for parents to review our changes of school organisation 2017. This is a way for you to have your say about how they effect your whānau.
Library day is still Thursday but we were unable to take books out last week.
There is a whole school assembly this Friday. One child from L2 will receive an ORCA award.
Passion Fridays will begin again this Friday.
